Fish Feed Hammer Mill Overview

The fish feed hammer mill, also known as a fish feed grinding machine, is a specialized feed processing machine designed to crush raw materials into fine powder before feed mixing and extrusion. This grinding step is essential for producing high-quality floating or sinking fish feed, as it ensures uniform particle size, improves feed digestibility, and enhances pellet quality. Our feed grinding machine is widely used in aquaculture feed production, livestock feed processing, and poultry feed plants. It can process various ingredients such as corn, wheat, soybean meal, rice husk, fish meal, and other grains or additives. We offer 9FQ series fish feed hammer mill with capacities ranging from 150 kg/h to 700 kg/h to meet your small fish feed production needs, and ZW series fish feed hammer mill with capacities ranging from 5 tons/h to 18 tons/h for large fish feed production.

Fish Feed Hammer Mill Fish Feed Grinding Machine

Our 9FQ Series Fish Feed Hammer Mill is used to grind fish feed raw materials, such as soybean straw, peanut vines, Ipomoea batatas, and other coarse materials, like branches, peanut hull, sorghum, dried grass, etc. It has a wide application in fisheries, animal farms, starch factories, and animal feed plants. The 9FQ series fish feed hammer mill has high grinding efficiency, low energy consumption, simple structure, and easy maintenance, being an ideal feed grinding machine in the fish feed manufacturing process.

Fish Feed Hammer Mill Working Principle

Raw materials are ground under the force of rapidly rotating hammers in the pulverizing room. Driven by the Suction Device, crushed materials, along the rotors, are constantly collided with hammer pieces, pinion rack, and screen pieces. Once the materials are crushed into powder, under the centrifugal pressure of rotors and the suction force of fans, they are transported to the storage bin speedy. The whole crushing process is:

Fish feed raw materials→ground in the crushing chamber→screen pieces→wind turbine→collection→pulverized materials
You can utilize a variety of auxiliary equipment to complete the collection, delivery, or other processing procedures, according to specific working circumstances. In the Fish Feed Pellet Plant, the fish feed hammer mill is connected with the fish feed mixer.

Fish Feed Hammer Mill Main Components

    • Feed Hopper – For uniform feeding of raw materials.
    • Grinding Chamber – Houses high-speed rotating hammers.
    • Hammers/Blades – Made from wear-resistant steel for long service life.
    • Screen Mesh – Determines final particle size; can be replaced for different grinding requirements.
    • Rotor – Drives the hammers to rotate at high speed. Adopting a multi-blade arrangement combination form, which improves the sieving ability after fish feed raw materials are crushed, and increases the handling capacity of the hammer mill.
    • Motor – Provides the necessary power for grinding.
    • Discharge Outlet – For collecting the ground material.

    Fish Feed Hammer Mill Features

Uniform Grinding – Ensures even particle size for consistent pellet quality.
High Efficiency – Fast grinding speed with large capacity.
Durable Construction – Made from strong, wear-resistant materials.
Adjustable Fineness – Change screen mesh sizes to produce different powder fineness (commonly 0.5–5 mm).
Energy Saving – Optimized design reduces power consumption.
Easy Maintenance – Simple structure allows easy cleaning and parts replacement.
Safety Design – Equipped with overload protection and safety covers.

      Fish Feed Hammer Mill FAQs

The feed hammer mill is used to crush raw materials such as grains, oilseeds, and fish meal into fine powder before feed mixing and extrusion, ensuring uniform particle size for high-quality fish feed pellets.

It can grind corn, wheat, soybean meal, rice husk, fish meal, bone meal, and other feed ingredients. Some fibrous materials can also be processed if properly prepared.

It is mainly designed for dry materials. Grinding very wet or oily ingredients may cause clogging. If you need to process high-moisture materials, they should be dried first.

For floating fish feed, a screen mesh size between 0.5 mm and 2 mm is commonly used. The exact size depends on the pellet diameter you want to produce.

Capacity varies depending on the model, raw material type, and screen size. For example, small models may process 200–700 kg/h, while larger fish feed hammer mill models can reach 2–20 tons/h.

Absolutely. The hammer mill is usually placed after the raw material feeding system and before the mixer in a fish feed production line.

Yes, we supply hammers, screens, bearings, and other replacement parts for easy maintenance.

Yes. Although it is widely used in fish feed production, it can also process raw materials for poultry, cattle, pigs, and other livestock feed.

For best results, raw materials should have a moisture content of 10–14%. Higher moisture may cause clogging and lower efficiency.

Yes. It can grind fish meal, shrimp meal, crab meal, and similar high-protein ingredients used in aquafeed.

Depending on stock availability, most hammer mills can be shipped within 15-30 working days after payment.

Fish Feed Hammer Mill Maintenance and Troubleshooting

      1. Operate the grinder machine strictly following the operating instructions. Checking and cleaning the machine each shift.
      2. Clean up both the inside and outside of the machine during long downtime to avoid the grinder getting rusty or the sieve mesh being blocked.
      3. Overhaul and replace the spare parts timely manner if they are broken or severely worn.
      4. Check the tightness of the triangle belt every time it starts. The aging of the belt will affect the performance of the hammer mill.
      5. It is a normal phenomenon that the bearings heat up after this feed grinding machine works for some time. If it heats up to 60 degrees, it is proven that the bearing has been aging, then consumers should stop to replace the bearing or clean it.
